Getting started

Who is tuition suitable for?

We support KS3 Computing, GCSE, Cambridge IGCSE and A-level Computer Science. Tuition can strengthen foundations, tackle difficult topics or focus on exam preparation.

Does my child need previous programming experience?

No previous experience is needed for beginner support. Tell us what the student has already studied so we can agree a suitable starting point.

Which exam boards do you cover?

GCSE support covers OCR, Pearson Edexcel and AQA, alongside Cambridge IGCSE. A-level support covers OCR, AQA and Cambridge International. Our Curriculum Explorer outlines the main topics.

How do we get started?

Send an enquiry with the student’s year group, exam board if known, learning goals and preferred times. We will discuss availability and the right type of tuition before confirming arrangements.

Can we speak before committing to tuition?

Yes. You can ask questions by email before deciding whether to book. Contact admin@learncomputing.online to discuss your needs.

Lessons and learning

Are lessons online, and how long do they last?

Lessons take place online and last 60 minutes. Joining instructions and any preparation are agreed before the first lesson.

What is the difference between private and group tuition?

Private tuition focuses entirely on one student’s needs and pace. Small groups bring learners together for structured teaching and practice, with up to 10 pupils per group.

What equipment does a student need?

A laptop or desktop with a reliable internet connection, microphone and a suitable browser is recommended, particularly for programming. We will confirm any software needed before the lesson.

Can lessons focus on weak topics or exam preparation?

Yes. Tell us which concepts, programming skills or exam questions are causing difficulty. Sessions can focus on those gaps alongside the student’s specification.

How will we know whether progress is being made?

We use checks of understanding, practical tasks and exam-style practice to identify gaps and guide next steps. Feedback helps students and parents understand what is improving and what needs more work.

Can you adapt lessons for additional learning needs?

Please discuss any learning needs or adjustments before booking. We will explore what support we can provide and agree whether the tuition is suitable.

Do you guarantee a particular exam grade?

No. We aim to improve understanding, confidence and exam skills, but outcomes also depend on attendance, independent practice, starting points and examination performance.

Fees and arrangements

How much does tuition cost?

GCSE tuition is £40 per hour for private lessons or £20 per pupil per hour for groups. A-level tuition is £50 privately or £30 per pupil per hour in a group. Ask us to confirm the rate for KS3 or a specific international course before booking.

Is there a package discount?

A four-lesson package includes a 5% discount. For example, four private GCSE lessons cost £152 and four private A-level lessons cost £190. Confirm your session pattern and total cost before booking.

How often should a student attend?

The right frequency depends on the student’s goals. GCSE group pupils attend both Saturday and Sunday at the same time each day. A-level group pupils may attend one weekly session. Private arrangements can be discussed.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Contact the academy as soon as possible. Please ask for the cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms before booking; these arrangements should be clear before you commit.

Are lessons recorded?

Please ask before booking if recordings are important to you. We will confirm what is available, what would be recorded and the arrangements for consent and access.

Can students outside the UK join?

Yes, enquiries from international students are welcome. Please include your country, time zone, syllabus and exam year. Availability is agreed in UK local time, and quoted prices are in GBP.

Tutor and parent support

Who will teach the lessons?

Faisel Shuib is a Computer Science teacher with QTS and PGCE qualifications, more than 15 years of IT industry experience and teaching experience in public and private education. He is DBS checked.

Can parents discuss learning goals and concerns?

Yes. Parents and carers are welcome to share priorities or concerns before tuition and discuss next steps. For under-18s, a parent or carer should make the initial enquiry and agree arrangements.

What if we have a technical problem?

Let us know promptly by email if you cannot join or lose your connection. We will discuss the next step based on the circumstances; please confirm any applicable arrangements before booking.
